As I’ve mentioned before, I home (Florida) for the holidays and it makes me so incredibly happy. I love my family… hard. So, the fact that I get to be here for 18 days straight is the greatest gift I could ever receive. Bonus, my boyfriend is also here for an extended time which makes things even better.
Here are 10 things I’m looking forward to this holiday season.
Being home with family and loved ones
Putting up holiday decor
Eating delicious food
Getting scuba certified
Going to fave spots in Miami
Gift giving & wrapping presents
Being away from work
Celebrating the birth of Jesus
Being away from snow (Bye, Ohio…)
I hope your holiday season is magical and filled with happy moments. If you can open your doors to someone who may not be surrounded by loved ones, do it. I’m sure it would light up that person’s heart.
Packing can be a nightmare for some. Packing light can be even scarier. I go home (Florida) for an extended time in December each year because I love nothing more than to be with family during the holidays. This year, I’ll be spending 18 days in sunny Florida!
Now, traveling during the holidays can be rough; so, in order to avoid as many pain points as possible at the airport, it is my goal to fit everything in a carry-on. This minimizes the lines I have to make and the people I have to interact with (hallelu!). I have already reduced my closet through the help of a capsule wardrobe so creating a mini travel capsule wardrobe doesn’t seem impossible. Below is a suggested wardrobe for an 18 day trip to Miami.
- Pack things you love
- Pick a color scheme and stick to it.
- Limit the number of shoes (I recommend a max of 3).
- Stick to 1 handbag.
Mini Capsule Wardrobe Breakdown:
- 7 tops (or 5-6 tops and 1 dress)
- 4 bottoms (you can get away with just 3)
- 3 shoes (think comfortable, casual, and night out)
- 1 set of pajamas
- Minimal jewelry/accessories (these don’t usually take up space, so feel free to add more)
Tops: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7
Bottoms: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4
Shoes: 1 |2 |3
Other: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4
I know, I know… the first day of winter isn’t until December 21 but let’s be honest fall left us a bit ago and we’re well into freezing weather. Here are a few things I’m planning to tackle this winter season.
It’s cold and layers are a girl’s best friend. Especially if you want to carry on with your every day. Below are some looks to copy (or inspire) to get you through the occasions you’ll encounter this month.
I’m sure many of you have already decorated your space. Some of you are just getting started. And, a few of you have no clue where to begin. Whether it’s your first time decorating or your 20th, it can be fun and magical to transform your space with a little holiday cheer. Here are some effortless ideas to make decorating simple, fun, and tasteful this year.
Mini Christmas Trees
It’s December. Finding it a little hard to believe another year is gone. Thankful for the lessons learned and the feelings felt. Here is what is on the docket for December.
It’s holiday season and that can either be a real joy for some of us or the most stressful time of the year. There was a time in my life when I tried to squeeze in as much as I could in my day because I thought that was the only way to be productive. Fast forward a few years and a couple of anxiety attacks and I can proudly say I no longer think that way. I’m now living at a slower pace and making thoughtful decisions – which makes my life more enjoyable. Here are a few tips I’ve found have worked as I’ve tried to simplify the noise around me:
Select the top 4 – 5 things that are most important to you and commit your time to them.
Simplify your wardrobe. It’s possible and so liberating. You know exactly what’s available to wear, everything can be mixed and matched, oh! and laundry is a breeze.
Say no. Period.
Turn off notifications. We check our phones out of habit – almost like its a nervous tick. I’ve found turning off notifications has forced me to check my phone at a time that works for me rather than as they come in. Real talk, Do Not Disturb is my favorite. I realize that may not work for people who have more responsibilities than mean (aka children).
Own less. This is a similar concept to limiting your wardrobe to what you need and makes you feel good. Too many things can sometimes feel like a burden or responsibility. Why not just invest in some quality pieces and a few nice to have that make you happy and keeps your space neat and clutter free? I find purging every 6 months helps keep me in check.
