As I’ve mentioned before, I home (Florida) for the holidays and it makes me so incredibly happy. I love my family… hard. So, the fact that I get to be here for 18 days straight is the greatest gift I could ever receive.  Bonus, my boyfriend is also here for an extended time which makes things even better.

Here are 10 things I’m looking forward to this holiday season.

MINI TRAVEL CAPSULE WARDROBE (FOR AN 18 DAY TRIP!)

Packing can be a nightmare for some. Packing light can be even scarier. I go home (Florida) for an extended time in December each year because I love nothing more than to be with family during the holidays. This year, I’ll be spending 18 days in sunny Florida!

Now, traveling during the holidays can be rough; so, in order to avoid as many pain points as possible at the airport, it is my goal to fit everything in a carry-on. This minimizes the lines I have to make and the people I have to interact with (hallelu!). I have already reduced my closet through the help of a capsule wardrobe so creating a mini travel capsule wardrobe doesn’t seem impossible. Below is a suggested wardrobe for an 18 day trip to Miami.

Packing Tips

  1. Pack things you love
  2. Pick a color scheme and stick to it.
  3. Limit the number of shoes (I recommend a max of 3).
  4. Stick to 1 handbag.

Mini Capsule Wardrobe Breakdown:

  • 7 tops (or 5-6 tops and 1 dress)
  • 4 bottoms (you can get away with just 3)
  • 3 shoes (think comfortable, casual, and night out)
  • 1 set of pajamas
  • Minimal jewelry/accessories (these don’t usually take up space, so feel free to add more)

Bottoms: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4

FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT THANKSGIVING

It’s Thanksgiving tomorrow and it makes my heart so happy. The day is all about love, gratitude, and food. Also, it’s a tremendously short work week for some of us – which is a blessing and something to be very thankful for.

I asked a few friends and family members to tell me what their favorite thing about Thanksgiving is and here’s what I got…

Not having to go to work (hello, sleeping in)

white pillows on bed

Gathering

flat lay photography of fine dining set

Coming home after gathering and sitting on the couch

white and black textile on brown couch

Apple pie

Eating turkey

roasted chicken

Gathering with family

All of the coffee & dessert

BIRTHDAY WISHLIST

BIRTHDAY WISHLIST

The older you get the less you need/want. I’ll be 32 this year and I’m totally ok with that. Don’t get me wrong, I feel a few aches and the body is showing signs of slowing down but I will fight through it. And, even though I don’t really need anything, here are a few things that have caught my eye.

THINGS YOU SHOULD DO EVERY TIME YOU TRAVEL

THINGS YOU SHOULD DO EVERY TIME YOU TRAVEL

I enjoy discovering new things. I like experiencing new places and the people in those places. That doesn’t mean I want to talk to everyone there. It does, however, mean I want to see it, smell it, taste it, and touch it. You can learn so much by just being. Traveling is one of my favorite things to do because it stretches you. Here are a few things I encourage you to try when you travel. I’m not saying I’ve done this each time but I like to try!

A LITTLE GRATITUDE

Untitled-1.jpgBeing grateful for what we have is sometimes (most times) all we need. The Thanksgiving holiday has come and gone and it’d be a miss if I didn’t take the time to pause and be grateful.

It’s been a year. It literally takes 5 minutes of watching the news to feel overwhelmed by the state of our nation. But, in spite of the craziness, there is still so much to be grateful for. I never want to lose sight of the good and beauty that is still around me. Here is a short list of what my little heart is thankful for right now.

  • MY JOB.
  • THOSE WEEKENDS THAT FEEL LONGER THAN 2 DAYS.
  • MORNINGS I CAN SLEEP IN.
  • MOVIE & TV SERIES MARATHONS.
  • FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
  • THE FOOD ON MY TABLE.
  • BAD DAYS. (THEY MAKE THE GOOD DAYS BETTER.)
  • THE PEOPLE I LOVE.
  • THE LESSONS I’VE LEARNED THIS YEAR.
  • GOOD COFFEE.
  • THE SONGS THAT ALWAYS MAKE ME FEEL BETTER.
  • THE PEOPLE IN MY LIFE WHO ARE ALWAYS MAKING SURE I GET HOME SAFELY.
  • HAPPY TEARS.
  • WARM HANDS AND LONG HUGS.
  • JESUS.

October Goals
