I’m a fan of people who do their own thing. Who do the right thing. Who aren’t afraid to be the odd man out. Growing up, every time my siblings or I said, “Ma… everyone did it.” or “The test was so hard, everyone got a bad grade..”, my mom would respond with, “I’m sorry. Is you’re name ‘everyone’? No, it’s not. You’re name is “Chantal’ so I don’t really care what everyone did or said or got because you aren’t everyone so don’t do what everyone does.” She meant that. And believe me it stuck.
I’m eternally grateful that mom told me I wasn’t meant to be like everyone else. Truth is, everyone is already taken. Be you. Be the person you were designed to be.
